My Music Journey.

Fact about Brit.

I love music.

But like most girls who grew up in the Church around the early 2000's my ears were accustomed to artists like Jackie Valesquez, Point of Grace, and 4 Him. Now... don't get me wrong, that music has and will always have a special place in my heart, but there was a whole world of real ART out there that I had no clue about. I always LOVED singing and enjoyed music but my journey to the good stuff started when I was 16.

For Christmas, my brother-in-law, Sean, gave me and my younger sister Leah 10 burned cd's of his favorite music for christmas. CLASSICS. Keane, U2, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, the soundtrack from Wicker Park!! Yes I know what you are thinking... there was a time when I didn't know about Coldplay? That gift was priceless, truly.

After that, Leah and I went on a music rampage... and myspace was our tool! haha. We started going to local shows and concerts every weekend! Then did what anyone would do... started our own band. Oh yes, we called ourselves "Diadem"! Not many people know about that part of my life, but I'm pretty proud of it! With me on keys and Leah on acoustic guitar we played some originals and some pretty dang good covers too! This only lasted about a year and oh was it a fun one.

Music is such a special thing. It can bring you to past memories with just a few familiar notes and it can change a mood in a split second. There are not many people who don't like music, it's one thing most people have in common and it brings us together.

I still get all gitty inside when I find a new artist that I love so I decided that I want to start blogging about my favorites!

This week I will be talking about my "most listened to" album of 2013. I wore this thing out then got to see him live this past summer. WOW. His lyrics are so incredible and the melodies truly make my heart hurt (in such a good way).

#4 is the best!

If you anyone has some music suggestions for me, please let me know! I LOVE new stuff.

Cheers,

brit

New Zealand (north island)

In my 25 years of life I have seen so many amazing things and have been to a bunch of different countries, but New Zealand absolutely blew everything out of the water. Nathan and I were traveling with United Pursuit to Australia, so decided to hop on over to NZ and do a little "3 year anniversary" trip. I mean... who wouldn't? These 10 days were the most incredible, relaxing,  and adventurous days EVER! We started off in Aukland, then drove up the east coast to a bunch of different beaches and the most gorgeous views you will ever see. DRIVING IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPERIENCE A COUNTRY! Seriously though... Nathan and I just rent a car and drive and drive and drive.

The funny thing about this trip was that our airline lost MY bag for 6 days. Dang, that was rough. But thank God we had a sweet friend in Aukland who let me steel pretty much her entire wardrobe! And I am extra thankful that she has great style :) Even though I was super sad that I didn't have my stuff :( I got over it pretty quickly with looking at the gorgeous creation ALL around me.

Nathan and I LOVED a little beach called, Piha. This was more of a "locals" spot where people just come to surf and watch the sun set. There is huge rock formation there that resembles a lion looking out onto the horizon. It's absolute craziness!

Here is the "lion rock"! Do you see it?

Here are some photos from our time in the North Island. I will be posting more later from the South a little later.

Christmas 2012.

Family is such a beautiful gift. Nathan and I got to spend Christmas with my family in Virginia this year. We had such an amazing time! I am mildly obsessed with my 2 year old niece and 5 month old nephew. They really do make my heart come alive in a super fun way. Of course they are not the only reason I had fun. haha Here are some fun photos from my time with all of my fav's. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year... I sure as heck did.

down: here is my youngest sister, Alyssa! Not only is she gorgeous... but hilarious and SO fun to be around. We had to road trip to VA in a mini van with no seats in the back. It was quite the 10 hour drive. But we made it and even made some super funny memories!

down: My brother-in-law Sean Feucht. He is an amazing musician, speaker, and of course... dad. And everyone is jealous of his long locks. You can check out his music HERE.

down: This here is Kate. She is seriously MOTHER OF THE CENTURY! She is my hero in more ways than one. I love her more than words can say! And I miss her so badly.

Leah Conley.

Ok. This shoot was MORE than special to me. Leah is my little sister, and THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BRIDE EVER! She got married this past weekend, and it was a truly magical time! It is the most wonderful feeling to watch your sister standing on the alter in front of a man that she is completely 100% in love with. There is no doubt in my mind that these 2 were born for eachother. Chris is an amazing man. I was BALLING my eyes out seeing the way he was looking at her as he was saying his vows for all his friends and family to hear. Love is such a spectacular thing. It energizes, softens, and reminds us of what life is all about. Their ceremony was super cool and "hippie". We all stood around them in a circle with no microphones, just the sounds of birds, wind, acorns falling from the trees. Leah actually got hit by one in the middle of her vows! haha It was priceless. Anyways. It was a gorgeous wedding full of peace, joy, and gorgeous flowers (thanks to my crazy talented mom)~! Leah is one of the most precious people you will ever meet in your entire life. She has such a special place in my heart, and it is so fun to know that I can trust the man she gave herself to!

Love you Chris&Leah Conley! You guys are lovely and VERY loved by me :)

Leah and Chris had an AMAZING photographer shoot their wedding (www.aghaphoto.com)....

but I just HAD to take some bridal portraits :) so here are some of my favorites!

Alyssa

Senior Photos are so fun! I like to do them because I get to capture such a special time in a person's life. This is when a person really comes into who they are! Leaving highschool is such a HUGE deal. It was especially fun for me THIS time because Alyssa is my sister ! She is not only gorgeous, she is fun, strong, and loves so well. She has such a tender heart and is a great friend. I am so proud of her for chasing her dreams and GOING FOR IT!

I love you Alyssa Marie.
