My Music Journey.

Fact about Brit.

I love music.

But like most girls who grew up in the Church around the early 2000's my ears were accustomed to artists like Jackie Valesquez, Point of Grace, and 4 Him. Now... don't get me wrong, that music has and will always have a special place in my heart, but there was a whole world of real ART out there that I had no clue about. I always LOVED singing and enjoyed music but my journey to the good stuff started when I was 16.

For Christmas, my brother-in-law, Sean, gave me and my younger sister Leah 10 burned cd's of his favorite music for christmas. CLASSICS. Keane, U2, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, the soundtrack from Wicker Park!! Yes I know what you are thinking... there was a time when I didn't know about Coldplay? That gift was priceless, truly.

After that, Leah and I went on a music rampage... and myspace was our tool! haha. We started going to local shows and concerts every weekend! Then did what anyone would do... started our own band. Oh yes, we called ourselves "Diadem"! Not many people know about that part of my life, but I'm pretty proud of it! With me on keys and Leah on acoustic guitar we played some originals and some pretty dang good covers too! This only lasted about a year and oh was it a fun one.

Music is such a special thing. It can bring you to past memories with just a few familiar notes and it can change a mood in a split second. There are not many people who don't like music, it's one thing most people have in common and it brings us together.

I still get all gitty inside when I find a new artist that I love so I decided that I want to start blogging about my favorites!

This week I will be talking about my "most listened to" album of 2013. I wore this thing out then got to see him live this past summer. WOW. His lyrics are so incredible and the melodies truly make my heart hurt (in such a good way).

#4 is the best!

If you anyone has some music suggestions for me, please let me know! I LOVE new stuff.

Cheers,

brit
