MY take on marriage.

A LOT of people in this country have a VERY bad view on this word, “marriage”. And this actually makes me SUPER sad. I feel like they are missing out on one of the most beautiful things we have been given on this earth. I know I totally sound like some idealistic little girl who believes in fairy tails or something…  “naive”! And considering that fact I HAVE only been married for about 7 months now, maybe I do have a bit of all that in me. But I ALSO have been asking people on the streets all over America about this topic for the past couple of months, and have been hearing a good amount of cynicism to keep me in reality. And I hear what they are saying… “well, I have never been with a guy who hasn’t cheated on me…” or “well it didn’t work for my parents, so why would it work for me?”. I don’t think I would want to get married either if were those people. But then I think… why don’t we just do what people have done throughout history. LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES! haha. I know it isn’t always that easy, but I feel like if I use this method, I will live a happier life. I know that divorce rates are higher than ever before, but that didn’t stop me from marrying my man. I look at the statistics as a sobering reminder to keep up our communication, be as selfless as possible, and to make sure we are constantly on the same page. Nathan and I have been asking married couples from all over the place what to do and what NOT to do to make our marriage last a lifetime. And I have been soaking up every word. I want to make my marriage work. I want to grow old with Nathan Scott Fray.

Last night me and Nathan purchased our first tree. We picked it out, then went to good old Walmart and bought a ton of Christmas decorations!!! It was the best day ever. Decorating OUR house, and making our own silly traditions. With Nat King Cole Christmas Record playing in the background… I was the happiest girl in the world. Marriage to me, right now, is living life with my BEST BEST BEST friend… who happens to be the hottest guy EVER. not too bad at all. I want to shout it from the rooftops… I LOVE BEING MARRIED.haha

Speaking of marriage, I helped shoot a wedding in SC a couple weeks back. Here are a few shots that I LOVE LOVE LOVE :)

Colby Colby Colby.

All i have to say is… i am friends with a ROCK STAR. Her name is Colby Osborn. When she speaks people listen, when she sings… i cry. haha The funny thing is, I am NOT kidding. This woman has got somethin very special, strength. Not so much physical strength… considering she IS like 4 inches shorter than me! haha. But she has inner strength. She KNOWS who she is and she is running hard core towards her dreams and visions for her life. I think that all of us can learn a little something from this spectacular person. I am PRAYING PRAYING that she will move back here to Knoxville. I would love to hang out with ALLLLL THE TIME. :)

Back to the point here. She is a very very talented singer/songwriter, and i did these photos for her website and any advertising she will be doing for her album coming out soon. I will post something when her website is finished… i am convinced that everyone will love her music!!!!! she is amazing… and OH SO GORGEOUS.

thanks Colby for letting me capture your beauty and rockstarness

These are some of the most anointed photos. I know the subject is my daughter but the anointing behind the lens is very obvious. I pray that doors of “Abundance” open up in front of you. Remember the promise you were given, you have never been out of His mind.

michael ketterer

These past couple of weeks have been SO exciting for me. I have been able to photograph some of the most amazing people EVER. And not only did I get to capture them in their glowing beauty, but I got to support their visions and gifts. I am still working on some of the gigs from this past month, but I do have this shoot done from 3 weeks ago.

This amazing man’s name is Michael Ketterer and he is one of the guys in our Knoxville crew that Nathan and I truly look up to. Him, his wife Ivey, and his daughter Sophia are super dear to us and we are excited to have them in our lives for many a more years !!!!! Not only are they some of the most real, friendly, and hospitable families I know, but also CRAZY talented.

This shoot was actually for Michael’s new album coming out this winter… We were going for the whole “bob dylan” theme, and i feel that we really did achieve that goal :) EVERYONE MUST BUY THIS AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT!!!!! seriously. His voice is like nothing you have ever heard in your life. Its super fun and has crazy beats – but with really good lyrics that actually make sense…. you don’t really find that very often.

So… enough said. I can only let you all see a few since he will be using this for all his new gear. But i hope you like !!!

Very nice work. How do you approach your B&W work? Do you shoot in black and white from the start, or do you do it in post?

Eneida Gallemore - 9 Dec ’10 - 10:38 am

Keep Portland Weird

I feel like I have been to a good amount of cities in America, but I must say that Portland is my second favorite (Boston being my first). Nathan and I arrived here on Monday with our 73 bags along with us. Film equipment and music gear, then you put 2 weeks of clothes in the mix and its not a pretty picture for flying across the country. Anyways, we were greeted by the lovely Amy Young who, some how, figured out our favorite Starbucks drinks and had them ready for us when she came to pick us up :) THANK YOU FRIEND.

The weather has been spectacular, about 72 and sunny, what more can you ask for… really. We spent Monday helping out at a photo shoot Amy and Lexi were apart of. They were modeling for a friends jewelery line (Glass Cocoon Jewelry) you all should check it out. Super cute stuff.

Then on Tuesday we spent some time in Hawthorne doing some interviews on the street for our “Love Is” project. We got some good stuff. A very mixed crowd, which is amazing  for what we are doing. I think one of my favorite interviews that day was with a group of  15 and 16 years old girls. They were absolutely adorable. When I asked them if they wanted to be apart of our documentary on LOVE they all lit up and got super gitty! It was the most adorable thing. My first question for them was if any of them thought me and Nathan’s marriage could last forever. To my surprise they all said YES. Not even one of them had even a hint of cynicism in their answer, which has been VERY rare in these past months of Nathan and I working on this project. My next question was “how many of you have parents that are still together?”. And again to my ASTONISHMENT every one of the six young ladies had married parents who had not fallen into the sadly high percentage of divorces in this country. I could tell these girls had such pure hearts. None of them had been hurt, their view on this mysterious thing we call love has not been tainted. This was such a beautiful moment for me. I almost couldn’t believe that this conversation had just gone on. That I had just met humans who still have hope for true love. I know that this probably sounds silly because they are so young… naive… innocent, but that’s what was so beautiful to me in that moment. They are still out there. This next generation DOES have hope.

I couldn’t hold it in any longer…. I had to ask them. “DO YOU LOVE JESUS???” I finally blurted out. They all in unison said “JESUS?”. hahaha. Needless to say, I blushed instantly. But then told them how Jesus is the only way me and Nathan will be able to Love eachother for the rest of our lives. I told those sweet girls that if they ever decide to go the path of Jesus, that it would be a GREAT decision, and that He loves them all VERY much. It was fun. They were a bit weirded out, but i know that they heard what i said, and that i went somewhere deep in their hearts.

The moral of this story is… I was given more hope for love in my country through that conversation with those silly girls. Through all the sadness, brokenness, and heartache we have come in contact with on this journey, it was very good for me to find some light in all of this.

THANKS GIRLS FOR YOUR INNOCENCE. I HOPE YOU KEEP  FIGHTING FOR IT .

BRIT

p.s. here are some photos of Multnomah Falls and Crown Point here in Portland :) SO MUCH FUN
