Then and Now.

THE JESUS MOVEMENT>

I was looking through a LIFE Magazine article from 1972 about a Jesus rally in Dallas. It was an amazing article with great photos. I was amazed with the type of publicity this even got. But anyways. The thing that really caught my attention was the fact that these photos look very similar to what is happening in my community right here in good old Knoxville, TN. Last night was our Tuesday night group that meets weekly with about 60 people… CRAZINESS> it is always the highlight of my week. All of the people i love come together and pray and worship and talk and laugh. It’s great fun.

I guess the point of me posting this is to say. I feel like I am apart of something much bigger than our little Tuesday night gathering. I know that there are hundreds of thousands of people all over the world that are hungering for another awakening. I am not the only person craving REALNESS in my walk with the Lord and even my relationships with people too. And we are definitely NOT the only people meeting in a little house asking Jesus to come!

I LOVE THE TIME WE ARE IN>

the “vintage” generation.

I am still not sure why so many people in the past couple of years have gotten SO into “VINTAGE” stuff. It’s really crazy actually. I know that people have been collecting antiques for years and years, but those usually have been the OLD people. Now it seems to have seeped into the entire “artsy” community. And I am saying all of this not out of judgment, I mean I AM ONE OF THE WORST ONES. Hahah.

I have been thinking about it today a lot because i found these beautiful pieces of equipment while I was doing my (not as often as i would like) THRIFTING. I bought this 8mm film camera that is in absolute pristine condition, and also this marvelous slide projector so that I look at my photography as BIG as possible on my wall :) When I left the store I thought to myself about how I just bought this old camera when I have my nice canon 5D that shoots BEAUTIFUL video right at home. Or why do I LOVE shooting with medium format pentax camera more that I do with my digital??? kinda confusing.

Well, I have come to the conclusion of why I like to use “vintage” equipment more than my digital. I like the feeling of NOT KNOWING what my footage is going to look like. I like how I feel more like an “artist” when I have to think so intensely about what I am capturing in that moment. I can’t just try, then erase, then try again, then maybe fix it in photoshop later. I have to be more focused on the detail and the art of it all. And besides film will always trump digital :)  in my home and even in hollywood !!!

House decorations are all “distressed” and actually made to look old. It’s crazy hoq there is nothing new under the sun. Fashion, art, and plain old fads will ALWAYS come back around. And I really really really like that about this world.

i love what i do.

Sometimes I get embarrassed while photographing/videoing. I just get WAY too excited sometimes and I don’t think people know what to do with that much emotion :) haha. Anyways, I LOVE what I get to do.

Today I did a little “video wedding invitation” for some friends of mine. CUTEST couple ever… and super fun to do this sort of thing with. I am super busy this weekend so I won’t be able to sit down and do the editing until next Monday, but I am still super pumped about the project. I love LOVE, so this is just the best job in the world for me.

I normally don’t write on here unless i have like 200 photos to post along with it. But that is what i am trying to change about this blog thing. I want to post more frequently even if it’s not that exciting :)

here is a little snapshot of the video shoot today … aren’t they gorgeous :)

I will post up the finished product ASAIIF (as soon as it is finished). hahah just made that up. not very catchy AT ALL.

I want to be doing more senior portraits this spring, so if you are interested contact me at my email: britfrayphotography@gmail.com.
